Our encore in France yesterday was visiting Pâtisserie Rigollot's works of food art in Annecy.
On the way to Fribourg in Switzerland, we stopped at picturesque medieval town Gruyères where cheese dreams are made, complete with dairy cows sporting bells for the farmers to locate them in vast pastures.
Lunch meeting dinner on the terrace of Le Saint Georges overlooking the square was the most decadent Planchette Gruyèrienne or local cheese and meat charcuterie board, accompanied by hot chocolate with creamy Swiss milk.
We checked into Centre Remparts by Mercure on arrival in Fribourg.
The remainder of the evening was spent exploring this fortified city.
Breakfast before heading to Neuchâtel in Switzerland today was at artisan Boulangerie de la Planche where everything including Fribourg delicacy brioche au safran or saffron-infused brioche is made by hand.
