The Restaurant & Catering Hostplus 2022 Victorian and Tasmanian Awards for Excellence was held last night at Zinc.
True to form, guests were welcomed with Oyster Lux' freshly shucked oysters and Polanco Caviar accompanying an assortment of beverages such as Salena Estate Sparkling Chardonnay Pinot Noir NV.
During the awards ceremony presented by television personality and MC Marianne Van Dorslar, a three-course meal by Zinc's culinary team included:
An entrée of cured kingfish, Riesling jelly, apple and cucumber with lime mayonnaise.
A main course of free-range chicken breast, charred baby corn, brassica, leek, hazelnut and saffron dressing.
Dessert canapés of Negroni panna cotta, caramelised orange and fennel with candied buckwheat; lemon curd tart and Italian meringue with lemon balm; and salted caramel chocolate and biscuit crumb with black salt.

Our soft spot was for the "French Restaurant" category comprising all Victorian finalists Bistro Terroir in Daylesford, Le Bouchon in Balnarring, L'Hotel Gitan in Prahran and winner Bistro Gitan in South Yarra ;)
