A career highlight was attending the milestone 60th edition of this year's SIAL Paris held from 19 to 23 October in the city of lights and touted as the world's largest food innovation exhibition biennially connecting trade professionals including producers, distributors, restaurateurs, importers and exporters from around the globe.
The platform was a feat with approximately 7,500 exhibitors from 205 countries, 400,000 products showcased across 11 sectors and 285,000 visitors having over 50 billion euros in major buying power.
In addition to the networking and discoveries that transpired over the five days via a state of the art program, there was a convivial ambience with surprise sensory immersions hosted by culinary experts, a central hub with live entertainment, an onsite restaurant with a menu of seasonal French produce curated by Michelin Star Chef Sébastien Richard, Choose Your Own Adventure-esque thematic show routes, a birthday party like no other and a gala dinner aboard luxury yacht Paquebot on the Seine river catered by the prestigious Lenôtre house.
With SIAL Paris 2026 slated for 17 to 21 October, the cherry on top may very well be a free trade agreement between Australia and the European Union giving the Australian foodservice industry more competitive access to the European market and further opportunities to participate in this event which indeed inspires food business in accordance with their mission statement.
